CAPE COD HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATION

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

 

Introduction

 

In support of its mission to be the premier human resource association on Cape Cod providing information and education connecting HR professionals, businesses and the working community, the Cape Cod Human Resources Association (CCHRA) is pleased to allocate a portion of its budget each year to two types of scholarship awards:

 

·        CCHRA Member Professional Development Scholarships

·        Cape Cod Community College Business Student Scholarship (1 per year)

 

The association provides these scholarship awards to assist CCHRA members with advancing their technical knowledge in the field of Human Resources Management, and also to recognize and support the academic achievements of a potential future business leader in the community.

 

Details regarding each type of scholarship award are as follows:

 

 

CCHRA Member Professional Development Scholarship

 

The goal of the Member Professional Development Scholarship is to assist those members of the CCHRA who may not have the financial means, either personally or via their place of employment, to pursue professional development opportunities and enhance their knowledge in the field of human resources.  This scholarship may also be utilized to fund a CCHRA membership.

 

          Scholarship Award Amount

 

  • Scholarships are limited to a maximum of $500 per eligible person, per fiscal year.
  • Funds can be requested up to 2 times per fiscal year (up to the max. of $500).

Note: Amounts awarded are dependent upon the number of applicants at any one time and will be determined by the CCHRA president, treasurer and Scholarship Committee.

 

 

    Eligibility

 

  • Prospective or current CCHRA members who are employed in a human resources department or who are responsible for human resources related functions with a Cape Cod based employer, or who are temporarily in transition between employers.

          How scholarship funds may be used

 

  • Up to 100% of CCHRA annual membership, including monthly breakfast meetings, with a commitment to attend at least 6 of 9 monthly meetings.
  • Up to $100 reimbursement, per academic year, for human resource-related books and coursework. (Business course books that are part of core coursework may be included and are subject to approval by the Scholarship Committee).
  • Up to $200 reimbursement per fiscal year to attend any Scholarship Committee approved human resources or human resources related workshop, seminar or conference (such as CCHRA, NEHRA, SHRM or industry-specific etc.), anywhere in the United States.

          How to Apply

 

          Eligible individuals must complete and return the Scholarship Application form and submit to the

          CCHRA Scholarship Committee.   Approval must be obtained prior to the event/purchase where
          applicable.  Approval will occur within 14 days of receipt of documents whenever possible. 

 

 

          Reimbursement of Funds Process

 

          Approved funds will be reimbursed after the date of the event/purchase with submission to the 
          Scholarship Committee of a paid receipt, as well as a certificate of completion/grade report
          where applicable.  (A "C" grade, or better, may be reimbursed.) 

 

 

 

 

Cape Cod Community College Business Student Scholarship (1 per year)

 

The goal of the Cape Cod Community College Scholarship is to help support the educational and career goals of a potential future human resources professional and/or business leader on Cape Cod. This scholarship is administered by the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation.

 

           Scholarship Award Amount

 

·          $500 per year

 

     Eligibility

 

·          Applicant must be a Cape Cod resident attending Cape Cod Community College as a full-time student in a Business Degree program with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or better, with plans to pursue a career in Human Resources Management or related field.

 

     How to Apply

 

·          The Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation Scholarship Review Committee determines the recipient each year, based on applications submitted via the College’s Financial Aid Office. The Scholarship is presented in May at the annual “Evening of Excellence” awards ceremony.
